Seminar 1 – Take a Walk on the Dark Side: Pinot Noir

Seminar 2 – Take a Walk on the Dark Side: Cabernet Franc

Come out of the bright, searing acidic light of Riesling and join us for a foray to the dark side – Pinot Noir and Cabernet Franc.

In this two-seminar set, ten visiting panelists will join a dozen Finger Lakes winegrowers plus special guests to taste and discuss their collective efforts with both grapes, emphasizing how to achieve an inimitable, internationally recognized regional signature (including from regions best known for their white wines).

Bring your boogie shoes – you should be dancing!

Join us on Linden Street for an epic throwback party of Disco hits and Riesling, sponsored by Skurnik Wines!

Dress to impress with your best leisure suits and sequins, we’ll provide the tunes and the Riesling.

Word has it there may even be library Rieslings available to try from the disco era itself… but you’ll have to be there to find out!

Winemakers and principals representing over 30 producers from cool climate regions around the world (Germany, Austria, US, Canada, Australia, and more) will be visiting the Finger Lakes and presenting their portfolios. Bring your excitement and your stamina, and get ready to explore some truly exciting wines.

A short walk from the Grand Tasting, this dinner is sure to delight your tastebuds and provide an opportunity to taste through what makes Finger Lakes wines so special. Music will carry you into the night, and off into whatever after parties you decide to find…

Each of these seminars explores the possibilities watery bodies – or the lack thereof – present for Riesling growing regions.

Seminar #1: “Beyond the Sea” – Heron Hill Winery (map), moderated by Patrick Comiskey: Exploring the impact that large bodies of waters have on Riesling.

Seminar #2: “Cry Me A River: Re-Searching River Valleys” – Dr. Frank Winery (map), moderated by the irascible Stuart Pigott. Separate myth from fact when it comes to the impact of rivers on Riesling.

Seminar #3: “Dust in the Wind” – Living Roots Winery on Keuka Lake (map), moderated by Jamal Rayyis: Explore why Dry Valleys are famous the world over for producing their own, unique, stunning Rieslings.

Austrian Wine Luncheon

We all gather together for a fabulous lunch, paired with wines and insight from one of our regional partners. Hosted by Austrian Wine at Main Deck.

This seminar trio is focused around climate transition and adaptation for Riesling growers and producers.

Seminar #1: “I’m Too Sektsy” – Red Tail Ridge Winery (map), moderated by Thomas Pastuszak with Paula Redes Sidore and Anna Lee Iijima. Dive into the wonderful world of sekt production and value of Riesling as a sparkling grape.

Seminar #2: “I Heard it through the Grapevine” – Anthony Road Wine Company (map), moderated by Jamie Goode. An exploration of new grapes in old regions and old grapes in new regions.

Seminar #3: “A Change Would Do You Good” – Ravines Wine Cellars (map), Geneva, moderated by Mary Gorman-McAdams MW. How do new climatic conditions influence new approaches to winemaking styles.

Join us around Downtown Geneva for the iconic moveable feast of FLXcursion!

Tramp through downtown Geneva for local noshes paired with Rieslings.

Where Is My Mind? – Exploring Riesling’s Thorniest Questions

Tuesday – 10:00am to 12:00pm

Our final seminar set of the conference examines the questions facing Riesling in a wider context.

Seminar #1: “What’s the Story, Riesling Glory?” – Fox Run Vineyards (map), moderated by Paula Sidore. What is Riesling’s story around the world, who are the storytellers, and how is the story evolving?

Seminar #2: “(What’s So Funny ‘Bout) Peace, Love, and Sustainability?” – Hosmer Winery (map), moderated by Anna Lee Iijima. Who bears the cost of sustainability, and what does that term even mean these days?

Seminar #3: “Theme from Jaws?” – Boundary Breaks Vineyard (map), moderated by Bill Jensen. An exploration of ‘Great Whites,’ what we mean when we classify wines in this way, and how Riesling fits into this context.

VQA Wines of Ontario Luncheon

We all gather together for a fabulous lunch at Geneva on the Lake, paired with wines and insight from VQA Wines of Ontario.

Afternoon Keynote Panel

Join us for a special afternoon keynote panel discussing Riesling’s place in the world, and revisit your favorite wines from the conference – all seminar wines will be available if there are any you remember particularly fondly, or any you don’t remember well enough.

Farewell Dinner

It’s always hard to say goodbye, but at least this will be one epic send-off.

Loosen Bros USA is sponsoring our farewell dinner at Kindred Fare, and just like last year, they’re pulling out all the stops. With great wines a-flowing (lots of Riesling of course) and Kindred working their magic in the kitchen, it’ll be a night to remember!
